FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you need to know about MRTZ and how social stakes work across our apps

ABOUT MRTZ

Q What is MRTZ?

MRTZ (pronounced "merits") is a non-monetary social currency used to track friendly challenges, contributions, and commitments between friends.

Think of it as a reputation score that shows how reliable you are. High MRTZ balance? You keep your word. It's that simple.

Key point: MRTZ has no cash value. You cannot buy, sell, or exchange it for money.

Q Is this gambling?

No, absolutely not. MRTZ is explicitly designed to NOT be gambling:

  • MRTZ has no monetary value
  • You cannot buy MRTZ with real money
  • You cannot sell MRTZ or cash out
  • There is no house edge or platform that "wins"

MRTZ is purely for social accountability—tracking who keeps their word among friends. It's no different than keeping score in a board game.

Q How do I earn MRTZ?

You can earn MRTZ in several ways across our ecosystem:

  • DareDog: Win friendly challenges against friends
  • FairwayFlow: Contribute disc golf course data (photos, maps, validations)
  • HeyCaddie: Win side games like Nassau, Skins, or Wolf
  • Sign-up bonus: New users start with a small balance to get started
Q What can I spend MRTZ on?

MRTZ is spent across the ecosystem:

  • DareDog: Stake MRTZ on challenges with friends
  • Hyzerlyzer: Pay for coach reviews of your throw videos
  • FairwayFlow: Stake MRTZ when disputing data submissions
  • HeyCaddie: Entry stakes for side games

Remember: "spending" MRTZ just transfers it to another user or to a challenge pool. It doesn't leave the system.

Q Does my MRTZ balance transfer between apps?

Yes! Your MRTZ balance is universal across the entire ecosystem. Earn MRTZ on FairwayFlow, spend it on DareDog, win more on HeyCaddie—it's all the same balance.

You just need to use the same account (sign in with the same email) across all apps.

Q Can my MRTZ balance go negative?

Yes, but only slightly. The system allows a small negative balance (up to -500 MRTZ) to keep you participating even if you're on a losing streak.

If you're in the negative, you'll need to win some challenges or earn MRTZ through contributions before you can stake large amounts again.

DAREDOG

Double Dog Dare Your Friends

Q How does DareDog work?

DareDog follows a simple four-step flow:

  1. BARK — Create a dare. "I bet the Chiefs beat the Ravens" or "I'll run 20 miles this week."
  2. BITE — A friend accepts your dare and locks in their stakes.
  3. PLAY — The game happens, the week passes, life unfolds.
  4. FETCH — The winner collects the MRTZ. Glory is theirs.
Q What kinds of challenges can I create?

Sports Predictions:

  • NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL game outcomes
  • Soccer matches (Premier League, MLS, etc.)
  • Golf tournaments, UFC fights, tennis matches

Life Challenges:

  • Fitness goals (steps, runs, gym visits)
  • Habit challenges (reading, meditation, early wake-ups)
  • Personal growth (learn a skill, finish a project)
  • Fun dares (who can grow a better beard, who tells the best joke)
Q How do dares get verified?

Verification depends on the challenge type:

  • Sports games: Automatically verified via sports APIs
  • Fitness challenges: Connect Strava, Apple Health, or Garmin
  • Life challenges: Honor system—both parties agree on outcome
  • Photo proof: Upload evidence for the other party to accept
Q What if there's a dispute?

If both parties can't agree on the outcome:

  1. A 48-hour dispute window opens
  2. Both parties submit their evidence/explanation
  3. If no agreement is reached, the MRTZ is voided and returned to both parties

We don't have "judges" or arbitration—you're friends, work it out. If you can't, nobody wins.

Q What are Dog Tags?

Dog Tags are reputation badges that show your track record:

BRONZE5+ dares completed
SILVER25+ dares, 80%+ settlement rate
GOLD100+ dares, 90%+ settlement rate
DIAMOND500+ dares, 95%+ settlement rate

Higher tiers show you're someone who keeps their word.

Q What about real-world settlements?

DareDog tracks who won the MRTZ, but the fun part is the real-world settlement you agree on with friends:

  • Loser buys the next round of drinks
  • Personal Uber to the airport
  • Caddy duty for the next golf round
  • Social media shoutout admitting you were wrong
  • Butler service for a day

Important: DareDog doesn't track or enforce real-world settlements. That's between friends. We just track who won.

FAIRWAYFLOW

Community Course Wiki

Q How does FairwayFlow work?

FairwayFlow is a community-powered disc golf course database. You earn MRTZ by contributing high-quality course data that gets validated by other users.

Think of it like Wikipedia for disc golf courses—but you get rewarded for your contributions.

Q What can I contribute?
ContributionMRTZ Reward
Tee pad photo1.5 MRTZ
Basket photo1.5 MRTZ
Fairway trace (first)5 MRTZ
OB boundary mapping1 MRTZ per hole
Validation (first)0.5 MRTZ
Validation (second)0.25 MRTZ

Note: Later contributors earn less (50% decay) to reward pioneers.

Q How does validation work?

Submissions need community validation before MRTZ is awarded:

  1. You submit a photo or map trace
  2. Other users review and vote to approve or reject
  3. Once 2+ validators approve with 70%+ weighted agreement, you get paid
  4. Validators also earn MRTZ for accurate validations

Fraud protection: You can't validate your own submissions, and same-IP validation is blocked.

Q What if I disagree with a rejection?

You can dispute rejections by staking MRTZ:

  • Minimum 0.5 MRTZ stake to file a dispute
  • If the community overturns the rejection, you get your stake back plus the original reward
  • If the rejection stands, you lose your stake

This prevents frivolous disputes while protecting genuine contributors.

Q Who owns the data I contribute?

When you contribute to FairwayFlow, you grant the platform ownership of that data. This allows us to:

  • Share it across the disc golf app ecosystem
  • Use it to improve all Caddy Suite apps
  • Prevent fragmentation of course data

Your MRTZ reward is payment for the contribution. The data becomes part of the shared community resource.

HEYCADDIE

Voice Scoring Caddie

Q How does HeyCaddie work?

HeyCaddie is a voice-first disc golf scoring app. Just say your score and it tracks everything.

Example commands:

  • "Par" / "Birdie" / "Bogey 2"
  • "Next hole"
  • "What's my score?"
  • "What's Mike's score?"

No fumbling with your phone. Just speak and throw.

Q How do side games use MRTZ?

HeyCaddie supports popular side games with MRTZ stakes:

  • Nassau: Front 9, Back 9, and Total—each can have MRTZ stakes
  • Skins: Win a hole outright, win the MRTZ pool for that hole
  • Wolf: Choose your partner (or go lone wolf) hole by hole

Set your stakes before the round, and HeyCaddie tracks everything automatically.

Q Can I use HeyCaddie without MRTZ?

Yes! HeyCaddie works perfectly as a standalone scoring app with no stakes at all. MRTZ integration is completely optional.

Many users just use it for the voice scoring convenience—"Say the score, that's it."

Q How does it know who won?

HeyCaddie calculates winners automatically based on the game type:

  • Stroke play: Lowest score wins
  • Match play: Most holes won
  • Skins: Each hole is independent—ties carry over

At the end of the round, MRTZ transfers automatically to the winner(s).
